Details of the SGA OOM for 2023/2024

  1. Structure of the 2023/2024 SGA OOM

The SGA OOM will utilise a points-based system to rank Singaporean players over a 12-month period each year, running from July to the following June. The SGA OOM will be used as part of our squad selection process and taken into account when selecting teams for various events throughout the year. There will be four categories to the OOM (Open Male, Open Female, U18 Male, U18 Female).

The OOM will be calculated in the following way:

  • Events played will need to be WAGR ranked in order to qualify for SGA OOM points.
  • The points allocated for a players result, will be of the identical value as those allocated by WAGR at the completion of an event (which accounts for the size of the event and the strength of the field).
  • The points will accumulate through the year and be divided by the total number of events that the competitor has played in (with a minimum divisor of 6), which will give each player a Points Average that determines their OOM position.

Additional information on how WAGR decides the power of an event, as well as the subsequent points per position can be found on their website.  https://www.wagr.com/about/criteria

ALL Singaporean players are entitled to be taken into account.

Those with a WAGR ranking will automatically be updated by the 10th of each month (based on their previous months results).

Those players without a WAGR ranking will be required to submit their results by the 5th of each month, for the events that they took part in the previous month. The results need to be emailed to kianhui@sga.org.sg and compiled in the OOM Player Results Template (which can be found on the SGA website). Players that are not WAGR ranked will still be allocated the same points that they would have been given if that player was a WAGR ranked player. This will be determined by using the same points allocated to a WAGR ranked player that they tied with in the event, or by finding the points allocated to a WAGR ranked player who finished in the same position at another event, with the same power value. Any player who intentionally omits any WAGR ranked results will be disqualified from the OOM standings.

  1. Timeframe of OOM

The SGA OOM will run in conjunction with our SGA Squad System going forward and therefore the OOM will run from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024. All events played from July 2023 to December 2023 will be included in the 2023/2024 OOM and the points will be calculated using the 2024 method.

The OOM will reset on 1 July 2024 and run through to 30 June 2025.

  1. Divisors

Divisors will be used in the rankings to create a points average. Each tournament will have one divisor, regardless of rounds played and in which format. Exceptions are:

  1. Matchplay Team events, like the Palmer Cup and Junior Ryder Cup. There will be no points and no divisor added

Each player will be given a minimum of 6 divisors. There will be no maximum divisor.
