The 35th Malaysian Ladies Amateur Open Championship was played at the challenging Palm Garden Golf Club from 1st to 3rd August 2018. It is a tournament highly contested by Indonesia, India, Thailand, Singapore and host country Malaysia. It also served as a lead-up tournament for numerous countries as they prepare for Asian Games 2018 which will be played end of August.
Indonesian National Team member Ribka Vania topped the Open division with scores of 77,70,70 to win by 2 strokes over Ridhima Dilawari from India. Finishing 2nd runner up was reigning Singapore Ladies Amateur Open champion Diksha Dagar who carded the lowest tournament round on the final day (78,74,68).
Best Singapore performer was Elite Squad member Sarah Tan who is also currently studying in Singapore Management University (SMU). Sarah finished the tournament tied sixth with rounds of 80,73,74. It was a great week of experience for SGA Junior Squad members Shayne Lim and Jillian Kuk as it was their first overseas amateur tournament.
