High Performance (HP) Introduction

The SGA High Performance team consists of three squads:

  • National Squad
  • Junior National Squad
  • Development Squad
  • Junior Development Squad

Weekly centralized trainings are conducted for the National Squad, Junior National Squad, Development Squad and Junior Development Squad, where members of respective squads will be offered tournament opportunities. A phasing system designed to provide a world class development pathway that builds a winning culture in our athletes has been implemented. Budding talents who showcase potential will earn the right to participate in both local and overseas tournaments, providing them with tournament exposure and experience at the same time.

Phase 1 – Creating a coaching support team

  • Executing training sessions for all squads
  • Individual Player Profile reports
  • Organize international/local training camps
  • Comprehensive Sports Medicine and Sports Science services (for carded athletes only)
  • State-of-art training facilities (Trackman; teaching studios)
  • Comprehensive athlete support and management programmes
  • Develop a relationship with individual coaches that will assist in player development
  • Align players with strong personal values and build an individual’s technical, tactical, physical and mental behavior to produce world class levels of performance
  • Send our DS/Junior Development players or Tier 2 squad members to compete in more international tournaments

Phase 2/3 – Tournaments

  • Provide a pathway for our NS/JNS players to compete in international tournaments based on age and ability with the aim of preparing our athletes for world class events/professional events

Phase 4 – Rookie Professional Programme

  • Create a platform to support our rookie professionals who have represented Singapore based on an individual’s results
  • Provide player management support as well as Sports Medicine and Sports Science services/golf training facilities
