David Price of Australia won the Mens Overall Division of the 29th Singapore Open Senior Amateur Championship when he beat Ooi Wai Kin of Singapore after a sudden death playoff.
The 29th Singapore Open Senior Amateur Championship came to thrilling finish at Tanah Merah Country Club, Garden Course when Ooi Wai Kin sunk in a birdie putt at the final hole to force a sudden death playoff with David Price.
Price held the most of the lead the first two days and was looking for an emphatic finish on the third and final round. However, Ooi Wai Kin was playing his best round of golf and made a huge putt for birdie on the par 5 18th for 69 to resume play back on the 18th for a Sudden Death playoff with Price.
Things however did not go as planned for Ooi as his Tee-shot found water. Price took advantage of the situation and calmly stroke in his putt at the 18th Green to win his first ever Singapore Open Senior Amateur Championship.
The Ladies Overall Division was once again won by Ms Gillian Sim of Singapore. Sim was the defending champion and was thrilled at defending her crown at her home course Tanah Merah Country Club, Garden Course. She played rounds of 80, 80 and 88 for a overall total of 248 for the championship and was four strokes ahead of the her nearest competitor Ms Boo Geok Ching.
