Gregory Foo starts his summer swing with a Victory at the 49th Sarawak Amateur Open Golf Championship

Leading by 3 strokes going into the final round of the 49th Sarawak Amateur Open Golf Championship played at Kelab Golf Sarawak (KGS), Singapore’s number 1 amateur golfer Gregory Foo finishes strong with a 68 (4-under par) total of 210 (6-under par) to win the championship by seven strokes over Casper Loh from Sabah. One stroke behind Casper Loh was SEA Games 2017 Team Gold member Joshua Ho who recently just returned back from the United States from a three-month university exchange program. Another SGA Elite Squad member Lucius Toh settled for 8th place after a struggling second round.

Gregory Foo: 70, 72, 68 (6-under par total of 210)
Joshua Ho: 73, 72, 73 (2-over par total of 218)
Lucius Toh: 73, 78, 74 (9-over par total of 225)

SGA has also finalised the nomination of our Asian Games 2018 Men’s Team, pending the endorsement from SNOC to have Golf represented in this year’s Asian Games.

2. Low Wee Jin – Winner of the Asian Games 2018 trials
3. Abdul Hadi – Selection based on Point 6.3 (SGA Asian Games Selection Policy)
4. Joshua Ho – Selection based on Point 6.3 (SGA Asian Games Selection Policy)

The nominated team will be going through intensive preparation in the lead up to Asian Games 2018, starting from May this month. It will consist of numerous International tournaments; an international friendly match against Hong Kong (Asian Games Format); full training weeks outside the tournament schedule; two local Asian Games Golf Camps and two recce trips at the Asian Games venue.
