SGA Development Squad members, Sean Lee and Inez Ng came out tops in their respective divisions in the HSBC Youth Golf Challenge 2018, 2nd Leg held at Warren Golf & Country Club this week.
Sean Lee shot a commanding two-under 69 in the Boy’s A Division to upstage fellow Development Squad member Andre Chong, who shot the best tournament score of three-under 68 on the last round, by three strokes. Coming into the final round, Sean lead the field by just a single stroke to Justin Kuk, another SGA Development Squad member. The final round was a tightly contested affair with five players within four strokes or less of the leader. In the mix was Brandon Han, the winner of the 1st Leg of the HSBC Youth Golf Challenge which was held at Keppel Club.
Sean birdied the par 3 seventh and followed it with an eagle on the par 5 eighth. Andre Chong put up a great fight but a bogey on the fifteenth and the eighteenth swallowed up any chances he had of a comeback victory; ultimately handing the win to Sean.
In the Girl’s A Division, SGA Development Squad member Inez Ng managed to hold off teammate Shayne Lim and claim top prize in this leg. Inez carded an 81 in the final round for a three day total 224 and lead Shayne by three strokes.
In the Boy’s B Division, Daryl Low from the SGA Junior Squad showed why he is a force for the future by carding a sparkling two-under 69 in the final round to win by a single stroke over Jake Foley. Jake was leading by a single stroke over another SGA Junior Squad member, Ng Wei Jun, while Daryl sit five strokes back from the top at the start of the final round. Daryl showed grit and determination in his play with birdies on four holes in the back-nine to beat Jake by a single stroke and record his first wire to wire victory.
In the Girls B’ Division, SGA Development Squad member, Angel Lim recorded a two-under 70 for her runaway victory by fourteen strokes over nearest competitor and SGA Junior Squad teammate Jillian Kuk.

In the Girl’s A Division, Inez Ng continued her run of good form today and returned to the clubhouse with a one-under 71 (72, 71, 143) to lead by five shots over Shayne Lim who shot a 75 (73, 75, 148).
Angel Lim shot an identical 75 (75, 75, 150) in the second round to still remain the clubhouse leader. She leads Jillian Kuk (80, 77, 157) by seven strokes.
Sean Lee who shot a two-over 73 (71, 73, 144) sits in pole position in the Boy’s A Division coming into the third and final round. He leads Justin Kuk (71, 74, 145) by a single stroke.
Meantime in the Boy’s B Division, Jake Foley fired a 74 (76, 74, 150) to overtake first round leader, Trevor Ng. Trevor (73, 80, 153) is still in contention and sit just three back behind Jake and second place Ng Wei Jun who shot a 77 (74, 77, 151).

But birdies on holes 7 and 18 puts her as clubhouse leader after the first round. Staying close behind is another SGA Development Squad member Shayne Lim with a 73.

In the Girl’s B’ Division, Angel Lim sits at the top of the leaderboard with an opening 75. Closest competitor is Jillian Kuk with anopening round of 80.
In the Boy’s A Division, two players sit at the top of the leader board at even par. Justin Kuk and Sean Lee and Sean Lee took the early lead and are two shots in front of Serzen Gurung, Andre Chong and Emerson Boon who shot opening rounds of 73.
In the Boys’ B Division, Trevor Ng leads by one stroke with an opening round of 73. He leads Ng Wei Jun by just a single stroke.

The 2nd Leg of the HSBC Youth Golf Challenge starts this week at Warren Golf & Country Club from the 10th till 12th December. The field for this leg consists of 68 players; 24 girls and 44 boys. This is the second year in a row that the 2nd Leg for this event is hosted by Warren Golf & Country Club. Brandon Han, Jake Foley and Jillian Kuk are the winners from the 1st Leg of this year’s event who are back to compete at Warren this week. In the mix is also last year’s HSBC YGC overall champion Inez Ng, who is gunning to defend her title.
