The SGA Referees assist the Association in officiating various golf tournaments locally – from major amateur events to the Inter-Club League. To be an SGA referee, interested parties are required to go through at least 2 Levels of Golf Schools sanctioned by SGA and supported by R&A.
R&A Level 1 Rules School
A 1-day introductory course, it is catered to Professionals, Committee Members, Club Managers and Executive as well as other individuals who are keen to learn and gain a deeper understanding of the Rules. The course includes a basic on-course demonstration.
R&A Level 2 Rules School
An intermediate course open to all candidates who wish to further upgrade their rules education is available at the Rules School Level 2. The 2-day programme covers both theoretical and practical aspects of the Rules of Golf. Candidates are required to sit for a written examination, and those who wish to become an SGA Referee must achieve a passing mark of 70%.
