SGA Junior Development Talent Identification Day

Singapore Golf Association conducted its first Talent Identification Day at Sentosa Golf Club on 16 March.

It has attracted 128 aspiring Junior Golfers aged between 6 and 11 years old (as of 1st Jan 2020). Participants got to showcase their skills at the Drive, Chip, Putt stations and a 5-hole challenge at the Serapong Course.

This event was meant to identify talented golfers at a young age to get selected into the SGA Junior Development Program which is an extension of SGA’s Junior Squad Programme.

There were 128 participants in total (with age ranging from 6 to 11) who took part in a 5-hole Stableford challenge and a Drive, Chip, Putt skills challenge where they were awarded points based on their results.

The top 15 players participants from each division will be selected into the SGA Junior Development Program for 2020 and another 30 additional juniors could be selected based on coaches recommendations.

SGA will partner with local Golf Academies who will provide structured coaching for these juniors and will provide on-course trainings, organise competitions and educational workshops. On top of that, the juniors will also be provided the opportunity to compete in overseas competitions.

With this new initiative, SGA aims to identify our talent pool at a younger age and to provide them with platforms to train and compete.
