As the national governing body for golf, the Singapore Golf Association (SGA) recognises that it plays an important role as the sanctioning representative of golf and is responsible for the development and growth of the sport.
We firmly believe in the importance of junior golf development in nurturing the character of our future generation through the game. To that end, we are pleased to have made significant progress in encouraging young golfers to step forward and try their hand at the game.
It has come to our attention that there are various private for-profit commercial entities that have been promoting their memberships and organising golf tournaments for juniors. We have received numerous queries on our involvement and association with the “Singapore Junior Development Tour” and the “Singapore Junior Masters”, which are promoted by LLD Sports Development and Management. Understandably, the use of the word “Singapore” in the title of these programmes may mislead the public into thinking that these programmes are endorsed by the SGA. As such, we would like to clarify that these programmes are not endorsed by the SGA. Additionally, we would also like to clarify that the respective promoters and organisers of these programmes are not related to the SGA.
The purpose of clarifying that the SGA is unrelated to these private commercial entities is to highlight that these entities are not accountable to the SGA. Accordingly, we hope that this clarification will dispel any misconception that the SGA had reviewed or endorsed any of these programmes and their respective organisers.
We are committed to working with all stakeholders to grow and promote the sport and will continue to work tirelessly to fulfil the SGA’s mission and vision. We welcome all stakeholders who are willing to contribute to our continuous discussion on how we may achieve our goals for the development of golf in Singapore.
