The 13th Kuala Lumpur Amateur Open was played at Kelab Golf Perkhidmatan Awam Malaysia from 7th to 9th August 2018. The field consisted of numerous Asian Games representatives from Hong Kong, Philippines, Vietnam and Malaysia. It also served as a lead-up tournament before Asian Games 2018 which will be held end of August at Pondok Indah Golf Club, Jakarta.
Ervin Chang Malaysian Top Amateur golfer also the reigning Singapore Open Amateur champion, continued his fine form and consistent play with rounds of 66,67,74 to edge SGA Overseas Squad member James Leow by 2 strokes to take the title. Finishing 3rd and 4th position respectively were Asian Games representatives Muhammad Afif Bin Mohd Fathi of Malaysia and Matthew Cheung of Hong Kong. Another notable local performer was Nicklaus Chiam also SGA Overseas Squad member who settled with a credible 71,69,73 to finish T6th.
Lois Kaye Go of the Philippines won the Ladies category by 3 strokes with scores of 68,68,73. Finishing runner-up was Isabella Leung of Hong Kong with scores of 70,69,73.
