SGA Development Squad members, Andre Chong and Hailey Loh were crowned champions of their respective divisions at the 27thSICC/DBS Junior Invitational Championships yesterday. This is the first time that the Boy’s and Girl’s divisions were won by Singaporeans.
Andre played a superb round of four under 68 in the severely undulating and challenging New Course of Singapore Island Country Club to capture his win over close contender and TeamGolfSg teammate Justin Kuk. Justin, who was just three shots back at the start of the third round overtook Andre and led by two shots after the turn. However, Andre showed his mettle by responding with a clutch eagle, birdie, birdie finish on holes 16-18 to win his first ever SICC/DBS Junior Invitational Golf Championship and the Lion Cup for being the best boy Singapore performer.
Hailey Loh cap another victory to her stellar year by taking home the Girl’s Division title. Haily shot a three-over 75 for a 223 total for a convincing 12-shot victory over closest rival Manassanan Chotikabhukkana in the Girl’s B’ Division. Her 223 total was enough to secure her the Girl’s Overall Division title over the Girl’s A Division winner Thaminda Seema who shot a 227 total over the three rounds. Hailey also won the Eagles Cup for being the best girl Singapore performer.
Daryl Low from the SGA Junior Squad also did TeamGolfSG proud by winning the Boy’s B Division. He shot a two under 70 for a victory on countback over Thailand’s Napat Vorrasanpisut.
