Low Wee Jin triumphs at the 33rd Johor Amateur Open played at Palm Resort Golf and Country Club, Allamanda course (26th to 28th June 2018). Low shot a final round five-under (67) to force a playoff against overnight co-leader and fellow Elite Squad teammate Lucius Toh who finished with a one-under (71). Their total score was 209, 7-under total. Low proceeded to win on the third playoff hole with a par. It was the third championship won on Malaysian soil for SGA in the last two months. All three winners are members of our Asian Games Golf Team 2018, to be played in Jakarta from 23rd to 26th August. Gregory Foo and Joshua Ho were victorious at the Sarawak Amateur and MPI Saujana Amateur respectively.
Our Singapore golfers finished strong through the tournament and it was a solid performance by our Elite Squad players especially who all finished in the Top 6. It is encouraging to see our depth of players increasing and having multiple winners in tournaments Team Singapore competes in. Our Development Squad players are also soaking in all the experience they have been exposed to and will be contending in time to come.
Callista Chen was our best performer finishing 7th position with scores of 76,73,77; total 10-over par for the tournament. The Ladies champion Puteri Alya Abdulghany stormed her way to victory with rounds of 70,65,68; total of 13-under par. Finishing first and second runner-up are Natasha Oon and Winnie Ng respectively; total of 8-under par.
