The 71st Singapore Open Amateur Championship saw the likes of many Asian Games teams namely from Malaysia, Chinese Taipei, India, Thailand, Philippines, Hong Kong and host country Singapore. It was truly an international field as we have got over 65 international entries. The quality of the field was strong, and it was a great showcase of golf on the testing Bukit Course.
Ervin Chang, Asian Games 2018 Team member of Malaysia stormed his way into victory after firing an impressive first round of 62 (8-under) at Singapore Island Country Club Bukit Course. He led throughout the tournament with remaining rounds of 68,65,72 to finish a tournament total of 13-under par. His nearest competitor was Singapore’s James Leow who played consistent golf through the week with rounds of 68,67,69,68 total of 8-under par. Wang Wei-Hsuan of Chinese Taipei who played the best on the final day recorded rounds of 69,68,70,66 total of 7-under par. Wang is also a representative of the Asian Games come August.
