Singapore DS & JS at APGC Junior Championship 2017

The inaugural APGC Junior Championship was held at the prestigious Hong Kong Golf Club from the 28th of August to 1st September 2017. 76 top Juniors from around the world took part in this invite-only competition displaying some top golf.

Despite a cancelled practice round due to bad weather, the strong field still managed to post some incredible scores.

The mixed team event format saw each pair from each country play with 3 different formats. The formats were Four Ball Better Ball and Foursomes for Day 1 & 2 respectively and the final round taking individual gross scores. This would eventually total up 4 scores to form the final score for the team for the Championship.

The final result showed Japan – Team 1 taking the top spot with a total score of 263. They beat  Australia – Team 1 by 7 shots. Korea – Team 1 took third place with a total score of 276.

The Singapore – Team 1 pair of Andre Chong and Nicole Mok finished in 23rd position with a total score of 293 while Team 2 comprising of Aidil Armani and Rachel Maswi came in 33rd with a total of 326.

In the Boys individual competition, Ngai Si from Macau winning with a 7-under 65. Yuki Ikeda of Japan and Kshitij Kaul of India finished an extremely close second, both shooting 66.

In the Girls individual game, Jeong Yun Ji won on countback with a 65, beating Natthakritta Vongtaveelap of Thailand. Coming in third was Yuka Yasuda of Japan with a score of 66.

Top Singapore representative Andre Chong did well by coming in with a round of 68 to take 5th position.
