SGA Statement – Tournament/Event Postponement

As all are aware, COVID-19 (Coronavirus) has created global health concerns regarding the disease and its increasing infection rates. Together as a golfing community, we will continue to navigate our way in the ongoing pandemic. The health and safety of golfers in Singapore and the local community is and will continue to be our top priority.

With the most recent recommendations from the World Health Organisation (WHO), Ministry of Health (MOH) and Sports Singapore, we regret to inform all golfers that SGA will be postponing the much anticipated 2020 Inter-Club League series until we receive more clarity in the coming weeks and months. SGA will also be postponing all tournaments and events with effect from 23rd March till 15th May 2020.

SGA will continue to work with all golf clubs and corporate partners to advise the remaining schedule for 2020 that ensures the health and safety for all associated with our sport. We will continue to provide further updates from time to time.

It is noted that the vast majority of golfers can and may continue to visit golf clubs and its facilities as per normal. However, it remains advisable for golfers to exhibit heightened awareness of personal hygiene and take social responsibility to stay home or seek medical treatment if unwell as encouraged by the authorities.

SGA remains fully operational to support all golfers and clubs with regards to rules, handicapping and any other necessary golfing requirements.

On behalf of SGA, we appreciate your kind understanding on our decision and thank you for all your support for Singapore Golf. I am sure together as a united community, these difficult times will pass, and we will head back to normalcy.

Kind Regards,
Singapore Golf Association
