SGA Appoints Joshua Shou as Full-Time Assistant National Coach

SGA is pleased to announce the appointment of 32-year-old Joshua Shou as Full-Time Assistant National Coach.

Shou was part of the team who clinched the team gold medal at the 2017 SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur. Having been in the SGA National Squad for over a decade, Shou’s grit has propelled him to turn professional in 2018. He competed on the professional tour until 2020 and started his coaching career in 2021.

SGA National Coach, Matthew Ballard, expresses his excitement on having Shou on board the high performance team at SGA as an Assistant National Coach. He believes that Shou’s presence will act as a huge benefit to young local Singapore golfers with the solid understanding he possesses on the game of golf. Ballard added, “As a former Singapore National representative, he has a first hand understanding of what it takes to prepare, train and compete at the highest level.”

Joshua Ho, SGA Acting General Manager, explains the importance of Joshua’s appointment to the High-Performance Program. “High-Performance and Junior Development are two of SGA’s key strategic pillars. Joshua’s appointment further strengthens our ability to develop the pipeline of young golfers in Singapore, and provide the necessary support for them to achieve their golfing ambitions.”

Shou is enthusiastic about being able to work alongside motivated and talented golfers as he embarks on his journey this April. He said, “I look forward to making an impact in the players’ games, as well as who they are as individuals. My goal is to help make them great golfers, but even better people.”

Shou will officially take on the role effective 1st April 2022.
