Singaporeans Abroad: Ng proves her worth in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, October 30: Inez Ng underlined her growing potential with a stellar performance where she finished tied-fourth at the World Amateur Team Championships last week.

Playing in a field that features several of the world’s top amateurs including Sweden’s world number one Ingrid Lindblad, Ng outplayed several of them with rounds of 72, 70, 68 and 69 to finish four shots back of eventual winner, Hsu Huai-Chien of Chinese Taipei at the Abu Dhabi Golf Club.

After qualifying for both Eisenhower (Men) and Espirito Santo Trophies (Women) – 36 teams in the world qualify using WAGR – Team Singapore finished Tied 29th position for the Eisenhower Trophy and Tied 20th position in the Espirito Santo Trophy (Singapore’s highest finish in this event). Troy Storm also shone the spotlight on Singapore golf as he lived up to his namesake by storming to a four-shot victory at the Singha Thailand Junior World Golf Championships.

The 14-year-old carded rounds of 72, 78, 68 and 76 for a winning total of six-over-par 294 to fend off the challenge from Thailand’s Louis Mahakan and clinch his first victory for the year.

At the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship in Melbourne, Ryan Ang showed great resilience and fighting spirit by bouncing back after a first round 82 to eventually finish in tied-19 place after carding subsequent rounds of 71, 72 and 70. Ryan Ang finished in a tie for a commendable 19th position at the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship in Royal Melbourne over the weekend: https://www.aacgolf.com/live-scores#/competition/4198716/leaderboard
