During the National Day holidays, we had numerous Singaporean junior golfers who travelled for the Hong Kong Junior Open Championship 2018 which was played at Discovery Bay Golf Club from 8th t0 10th August 2018. The Overall Boys Champion went to deserving winner Taichi Kho of Hong Kong who played superbly on the final day 70,74,65. It was his final event in Hong Kong before he leaves for America to start his US college journey.
SGA Development Squad member Andre Chong did his country proud during the celebratory week by finishing Overall T4th with rounds of 73,75,70. In the Boys 13-14 years old category, SGA Junior Squad member Daryl Low finished solo 5th with a credible performance of 77,80,75. Following closely behind Daryl was SGA Development Squad member Sean Lee with rounds of 76,80,81 leaving him at T7th. Other Singaporean juniors who played were Yap Zhe Rong and Trevor Ng. They had a great learning experience playing at Discovery Bay. It was good to see more Singapore Juniors travelling out of Singapore to get more tournament exposure.
Andre Chong and Sean Lee will be returning to Hong Kong again end of August to represent Singapore in the Asia-Pacific Junior Championship held at Clearwater Bay Golf Club. They will be joined by fellow Development and Junior Squad girls Angel Lim and Jillian Kuk.
