Malaysian Ladies Amateur Open 2023

Final Round

Ng closes with a 70 to finish T2 in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, July 27: Inez Ng fired a closing two-under-par 70 to sign off from the Malaysian Ladies Amateur Open in tied-second place at the Templer Park Country Club on Thursday.

Ng posted rounds of 72, 77 and 70 for a three-day total of three-over-par 219 to share second place with Malaysia’s Mirabel Ting and Charlayne Chong- five shots behind SEA Games individual gold medalist, Ng Jing Xuen, who won the tournament after carding a final round 70 for a 214 total in the 54-hole strokeplay event.

“It was fantastic to compete once again in Malaysia and the course at Templer Park Country Club was in fantastic condition. I didn’t get off to great starts in either of my first two rounds and struggled with my ball striking, but managed to hang in there and post decent scores.

“I am really glad that I managed to gradually tighten my ball striking up through the event though and finish off strongly on the final day,” said Ng.

Hailey Loh, meanwhile, posted a 74 to end the week in a share of seventh place with her 227 total, while Chen Xingtong is a further shot back in tied-ninth place alongside Chinese Taipei’s Sung You-Chuan on matching 228 total.

Passion Hsu finished in tied-35th place after rounds of 82, 79 and 91.
