THERAPEUTIC USE EXEMPTION (TUE) FOR SPEXCARDed ATHLETES
1. All spexCarded athletes are to apply for a TUE with supporting medical documents (such as medical history, diagnostic tests, examination results, laboratory investigations and imaging studies), if any, when required to use medication or methods of treatment that are listed under the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) Prohibited List. Athletes in the International Federation (IF) testing pool shall abide by their respective IF’s TUE rules and procedures.
2. Athletes who need to use a Prohibited Substance or Method must obtain an approved TUE prior to consuming the medication or methods of treatment, unless in an emergency. In such instances, the TUE can be applied retroactively.
3. For Substances and Methods prohibited In-Competition only, the athlete should apply for a TUE at least 30 days before his/her next competition, unless in an emergency.
4. For Substances and Methods prohibited at all times, the TUE application must be submitted as soon as the medical condition requiring the use of prohibited substances or methods is diagnosed.

6. Athletes with approved TUE should also take note of the TUE expiry date. If there is a need to continue to use the Prohibited Substance or Prohibited Method after the expiry date, the athlete must submit an application for a new TUE well in advance of that expiry date, so that there is sufficient time for a decision to be made on the application before the expiry date.
7. In the event that, after the TUE is granted, the athlete requires a change in dosage / frequency / route / duration of use of the Prohibited Substance or Prohibited Method to the approved TUE, he/she must apply for a new TUE.
