March 19: National squad member Brayden Lee is determined to get a good result as he makes his maiden appearance at this week’s Porsche Singapore Classic.

The 17-year-old secured his place at the DP World-sanctioned event as the top local amateur through its qualifying event, held at the Laguna National Golf Resort Club, last month.

Lee will be part of the strong field, which includes Jimmy Walker, the 2016 US PGA Championship winner making his first trip to Singapore, China’s Li Haotong along with 2025 season DP World Tour winners Alejandro del Rey, Calum Hill, Ryggs Johnston and John Parry.

“It’s going to be a very exciting week for me as this is my first DP World event. I want to soak in the atmosphere and just enjoy the week.

There will undoubtedly be a little bit of pressure to play decent, considering this is my first DP World event, and I’ll have my friends and family coming out to support me. My first goal will be to make the weekend cut. And if I can do that, a top-40 finish will be a good week for me,” said the Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) student.

The Porsche Singapore Classic marks the start of the Asian Swing for the DP World Tour and is the third of five Global Swings in Phase One of the 2025 Race to Dubai.
