Round 4
The matchplay finals of the 22nd Singapore National Amateur Championship (SNAC) has ended.
SGA National Squad member Brandon Han, who entered the matchplay section as the top seed, emerged as the Men’s champion with a 1-up victory over SGA Development Squad member Irvyn Tan in a sensational final match.
“I believe this week is a good reflection of how much blood, sweat and tears I’ve put into this game,”expressed Brandon. “The past couple of years have not been easy for me– my golf has been rather stagnant. I used to think that I wasn’t talented in this game but after this week, I’ve learnt that hard work is a talent as well.”
In the women’s division, fourteen-year old SGA Development Squad member Xingtong Chen reigned victorious. Xingtong, who also won the Girl’s B division in the Singapore Junior Golf Championship earlier in June, had a 1-up victory after a spectacular final match with SGA National Squad member Yoko Tai.
“I’m honoured to have won the Singapore National Amateur Championship, and I would like to thank all those who have been supporting me,” said Xingtong.

Singapore National Amateur Championship 2022 – Round 2 was unfortunately abandoned due to inclement weather.
The men’s division Round of 16 was battled out in the afternoon. Here are the results:

Round 1
The 22nd Singapore National Amateur Championship (SNAC) is back, held at Warren Golf and Country Club with a total of 61 participants.
Men’s Division saw SGA National Squad player Brandon Han leading in Round 1, with a 5-under 66, ahead of SGA National Squad player Justin Kuk and Troy Storm shooting a 73 (+2) and 75 (+4) respectively.
When asked about plans on how he plans to keep up with his good play, he answered, “Keep doing what I’m doing, which is working on being more reactive, spending less time over the ball and swinging to the target freely”.
In the ladies’ division, fellow National Squad teammate Yoko Tai took the lead in the women’s division with an opening 73 (+2), ahead of Gladys Oh and SGA Development Squad player Xingtong Chen with a six-over 77.
The second qualifying round will be played tomorrow with the top 16 men and top 8 women proceeding into the matchplay knockout rounds.
