On the 13th of August 2022, the Asian Tour presented the Singapore Golf Association (SGA) with a US$25,000 donation during a presentation ceremony at the International Series Singapore held at Tanah Merah Country Club.
Presented by Cho Minn Thant, CEO and Commissioner of Asian Tour to SGA President Tan Chong Huat, the Asian Tour reinforced its commitment to development of Golf.
In line with its mission and vision of prospering the game of golf in Singapore, the SGA has perceived the younger generation as a platform for accelerating growth. It has since organised Junior events catered for them to sharpen their skills further, such as the Junior Development Order of Merit and the Junior Development Programme.
The International Series Singapore observed how the Junior Development is a central point for SGA, as the event also saw four aspiring junior golfers on the course. All aged ten with handicaps ranging from five to 18, to be under the special tutelage of Indian pro four-time winner Shiv Kapur.
Nigel Seah, Dylan Chua, Anjanette Tan and Aamiya Koul were taught by Kapur who shared the significance of pre-shot routines, maintaining focus, shaping ball flight and more – instrumental techniques to get them geared up for the golfing life.

Kapur pointed out that Singapore owns brilliant facilities to expose juniors to the game of golf, and notions that there will be even greater pick-up among children as the Asian Tour and International Series flourish. “Each year in the field we see more and more Singaporean players contesting, and it is great to see,” said Kapur.
The Asian Tour shares its philanthropy across all destinations of the International Series, with an aim to support local communities in the area. Of such includes a US$25,000 donation to Bright Dawn Foundation at the International Series Thailand as well as £20,000 donation to the Northumberland Union of Golf Clubs at the International Series England.
Cho expressed, “We want our impact to be felt and supporting the SGA in their efforts to grow the game at the junior level is a win-win for all concerned.”
“The International Series Singapore is an important calendar event, as it puts the game of golf in the spotlight all around the world with a wonderful international field. This will certainly promote golfing interest and encourage participation across all age groups,” said President Tan as he expresses his gratitude to the Asian Tour for their generous gesture.
