Singapore, November 20: The inaugural Singapore Golf Association (SGA) Golf Week will continue to feature prominently in SGA’s calendar following a successful launch that was lauded by many from the golf industry from the region as well as the community in Singapore.
The week teed off with the Asia Golf Convention where key industry leaders from the region shared their insights and best practices to a full-capacity audience at the Singapore Island Country Club on Tuesday.
The President’s Cup, held at the Orchid Country Club the next day, then raised over $300,000 for its high-performance programmes such as the South East Asian Amateur Golf Team Championship 2024 and World Amateur Team Championships 2025 along with other initiatives.
SGA’s Annual Gala & Awards Dinner held at the Grand Ballroom of the Orchid Country Club that same evening, celebrated and honoured the achievements and contributions of players and stakeholders in a lively and full-filled event.
China’s Liang Wenchong, the first mainland Chinese to win the prestigious Asian Tour Order of Merit title in 2007, was also unveiled as SGA’s newest golf ambassador during the Gala & Awards dinner.
A community engagement program with the Singapore Disability Sports Council (SDSC) was organised and held at the Keppel Club on Thursday. National coach Murray Smit, along with several of its squad members introduced the sport to participants at three stations- driving range, putting green and classroom session on the introductory to golf.
The week concluded with golf reaching the heartlands at Downtown East, Pasir Ris on the weekend where the public had the opportunity to try their hands at playing golf at the Golf Fiesta which was co-organised with NTUC Club and My Golf Kaki.
