SGA Junior Golf Challenge at Warren Golf & Country Club

The SGA Junior Golf Challenge welcomed enthusiastic juniors and their parents to the beautiful Warren Golf & Country Club on 17th July 2017. Organized by the Junior Development Sub-Committee, the event was blessed with clear skies and saw 71 eager youths present and ready to compete.

Players and their caddies stood on standby as the first flights for the partial shotgun started off at 3pm. Division 1 Boys and Girls (age 14 and under) took to the front nine while the rest of the juniors battled it out on the back nine. Format of play was strokeplay for all division except Division 2 Boys and Girls (age 11 and under) where they played to stableford format off the gold tees.

After the round, players and caddie were rewarded for their hardwork with a buffet dinner at the prize presentation.

Division 1 Boys saw Nicholas Jordan edged out Eng Wei Jin on countback to take the first place with 1-over 37 and a par on the last hole. Trailing behind at third place is Syafiq Iskandar Loh who shot 2-over 38 while Ng Wei Jun and Aidil Nor Amani carded a 3-over 39 to place fourth and fifth respectively.

Division 2 Girls winner, Rachel Maswi from the Junior Squad finished with even par 36 to take home the win while Heng Ee En and Vanessa Chua carded 1-over 37 to place second and third respectively.

Daryl Low left his competitors in the dust with his spectacular performance of 1-over 37 to bag the win for Division 2 Boys. Trevor Ng shot a 5-over 41 to finish second position, while Irvyn Tan and Ethan Lim carded 6-over 42 to finish third and fourth.

For the Girls Division 2, Sarah Lim and Angel Lim carded a 6-over 42 to tie for first place, with Sarah winning on count back.

Lastly, the Division 2 Boys and Girls Stableford format concluded with Irzan Haaziq and Laelle Chng dominating their respective divisions. Haaziq chalked up 25 points to triumph Teo Zhe Wei Zen on countback while Chng finished with 21 points to win by one against Jamie Ng.
