An Olympian and global champion, a rising star and a proven winner. Singapore’s women’s golf team brings together three accomplished golfers with one shared ambition — to represent their country with pride and challenge for honours at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026.
Shannon Tan, Chen Xingtong and Amanda Tan will fly the Singapore flag when the golf competition at the 20th Asian Games gets underway on Wednesday at Kasugai Country Club East Course in Nagoya, Japan.
While each has already carved out her own place in Singapore golf, the Asian Games offers another chance for the trio to come together and compete for their country on one of Asia’s biggest sporting stages.
At just 22, Shannon has already experienced the demands of competing at the highest level. She became the first Singaporean golfer to compete at the Olympic Games when she teed it up at Paris 2024, and has since continued to make her mark on the Ladies European Tour (LET).
A multiple winner on the LET and the reigning Order of Merit champion, Tan arrives in Nagoya with considerable experience of competing against some of the world’s best players.
Now, she will bring that experience to the Asian Games, where the focus shifts from individual success to the collective challenge of helping Singapore compete for honours.
“It’s always an honour when I get the chance to represent Singapore and I hope to make my debut at the Asian Games a very memorable one,” said Tan.
Xingtong, meanwhile, has also been making history of her own.
In 2025, she became the first Singaporean to reach the final of the prestigious US Girls’ Junior Championship, marking another significant milestone in the development of one of Singapore’s most promising young golfers.
That run came after she had already claimed the Singapore Open Amateur Championship title in 2024, while she was also part of the Singapore team that secured silver at the 2025 SEA Games and also, the nation’s best team result of tied-15th at the World Amateur Team Championships in 2025.
“I’m really excited to be making my Asian Games debut, and being selected for the team is a privilege that I’m always grateful for. I will do my best as I always have for any tournament that I compete in. But for the Asian Games, it will be extra special as I’ll always be playing for my country and that is an honour,” said 17-year-old Chen.
