Singapore, August 14: Lee Lung Nien has been elected President of the Singapore Golf Association (SGA) following a vote at the Annual General Meeting on Friday.
Lee succeeds Tan Chong Huat, who completes his term after four years at the helm of the national governing body for golf in Singapore.
Lee is a senior business and sports leader with more than three decades of international experience in banking, corporate leadership and sports governance.
A 36-year Citi veteran, Lee currently serves as Citi Country Officer for Singapore, having previously held senior leadership positions across Asia, including Chairman of Citi Private Bank for South Asia and CEO of Citi Malaysia.
He was appointed to Citi’s top position in Singapore in 2025, becoming the first Singaporean in 50 years to hold the role.
Speaking after the election, Lee said: “It is a great honour to be entrusted with the leadership of the Singapore Golf Association. I would like to thank the members and stakeholders for their confidence and support.
“Singapore golf has made significant progress in recent years, from participation and junior development to high performance and our growing presence on the international stage. There is a strong foundation to build on, and I look forward to working with our clubs, athletes, coaches, volunteers, partners and stakeholders to take golf in Singapore forward.”
Lee also paid tribute to Chong Huat and the outgoing Executive Board for their contributions to Singapore golf.
“Chong Huat and the Executive Committee have made significant contributions to the development of Singapore golf. I would like to thank them for their leadership and dedication, and we look forward to building on the strong foundations that have been established.”
The newly elected President will serve a four-year term together with the newly elected Executive Committee.
