SINGAPORE, 9 September 2023 – Lexus, the luxury automotive brand renowned for its commitment to innovation and precision craftsmanship, is thrilled to announce the extension of its partnership with the Singapore Golf Association (SGA) for an additional three years. This renewed commitment underscores Lexus’ dedication to supporting the growth of golf as a sport in Singapore and fostering the development of young golf talent.

As part of the 3-year partnership, Lexus will continue to host an exclusive series of golf events for its customers and golf enthusiasts, providing an exceptional opportunity to experience the game on some of Singapore’s finest courses.

Lexus remains committed to nurturing the next generation of golfers. Through the partnership, Lexus will continue to support the SGA in its efforts to identify and groom young talent in Singapore. This includes funding for training programs and scholarships for promising junior golfers.

In the meantime, Lexus will actively engage with the golfing community by organizing golf clinics, workshops, and other events aimed at promoting the sport and enhancing the skills of both amateur and professional golfers.

Amongst the SGA squad members who have benefited from this partnership are James Leow, who ended Singapore’s 30-year wait for an individual gold medal in golf at the 2019 SEA Games and Aloysa Atienza, who became the first Singaporean women in more than 30 years to clinch the individual silver medal at the 2022 SEA Games in Hanoi.

Leow enjoyed a stellar year in 2022 when he won the Thunderbird Collegiate and the Pacific Coast Amateur titles in the United States and represented the Team International side that beat the United States at the prestigious Palmer Cup in that same year.

The 26-year-old also clinched both team and individual silver medals at the Nomura Cup- leading Singapore to its best-ever result at the event.

Atienza, meanwhile, is training and competing in the United States where she is seeking to make her breakthrough on the LPGA.

Mr. Ng Khee Siong, Interim Managing Director of Inchcape Singapore, expressed excitement about the extended partnership, stating, “We are delighted to continue our collaboration with the Singapore Golf Association. Golf aligns with Lexus’ core values of precision, performance, and a commitment to excellence. We look forward to further promoting the sport in Singapore, supporting the development of local talent, and engaging with golf enthusiasts in our community.”

Mr. Tan Chong Huat, President of the Singapore Golf Association, added, “The partnership with Lexus has been instrumental in the growth of golf in Singapore. We are pleased to extend our collaboration and appreciate Lexus’ unwavering support for our association and the golfing community. Together, we will continue to make a significant impact on the sport of golf in Singapore.”

Lexus’ commitment to innovation and dedication to the pursuit of perfection align seamlessly with the values of golf. With the extended partnership, Lexus and the Singapore Golf Association aim to further elevate the sport, inspire young talent, and create memorable golfing experiences for enthusiasts across Singapore.
