13th Faldo Series Asia Grand Final

The final round of the Faldo Asia Grand Finals brought much action with the players at the top of the leaderboard. SGA Development squad member, Yoko Tai who was 2-under for the tournament and tied 4th coming into the final round battled hard to stay in contention. However, bogeys in the back nine hurt her chances for the title and she slipped to T10th place for the tournament.

Chang Hsin Chiao of Chinese Taipei became the overall champion after she sank her birdie putt at the second hole of sudden death playoff to beat fellow countryman Chen Ting Yu. Chang, was 1 stroke behind Chen coming into the 18th during regulation play. Unfortunate for Chen, he found trouble when his third shot on the par 5 18th ended in some unplayable bushes on the left of the green. Chen made bogey on that hole. When Chang missed her birdie putt on 18th, she tapped in her par and for the first time ever in the history of the Faldo Series, a playoff ensued between a boy and a girl.

On the first hole of sudden death playoff, both players made birdies and back again they went to the 18th tee. During the second hole of the sudden death, Chang sent her ball to within 5 feet for birdie. Chen however was unfortunate as his ball spun back from the top tier of the green and rolled back about 20 feet away from the hole. He missed his birdie putt and settled for par. Chang did not make any mistake and sunk her ball to be crowned overall champion of the Faldo Series Asia Grand Final 2019.

Sean Lee of the SGA National Squad had another good round of 1-under 81, 69, 70 (220) to close the competition. He finished at T25th place. Tommy Tan of the SGA Development Squad struggled again during the last round and finished T62 77, 75, 87 (239). Wong Yen Ting finished the competition at T52 79, 78, 76 (233).
